In 2024, 40.8 million people are living with the virus, including 1.4 million children, and more than 3,500 people are infected every day. 5.3 million people worldwide were unaware that they were living with HIV. Despite prevention efforts and antiretroviral drugs, the target of 370,000 new infections set for 2025 by UNAIDS has not been met, as many countries do not have access to all the necessary information and protection.
