The Gallery Of Time

Description

In December 2012, the new Louvre-Lens building will open the doors of a 120-metre long "Gallery of Time " - a collection of over 200 works in a total surface area of 2,000 m².
The gallery, which will house many masterpieces from all Louvre departments, is the only place in the world where one can see, under the same roof, a stream of works constituting both a marvellous book of knowledge and discovery, as well as a succession of wonderments. Presented chronologically and transversely, the works recount the history of humanity from the 4th millennium B.C. to the European 19th century, passing by Egypt, Greece and Rome, and the Islamic world.
