Mapping The World - Trade : Conquering The Oceans
Description
The expansion of trade has pushed nations to conquer the oceans: trade routes have moved and expanded to meet the needs of producers and consumers. The conquest of maritime routes says a lot about the history of civilizations, their trade and their desire for power.
China has made its interest for these maritime areas known: as part of its "New Silk Roads " project, it is investing in canals (such as Panama), straits, isthmuses (such as Kra in Thailand) and world ports, from Genoa to Athens.
