Mapping the World - The Planet Is Sick With Plastic
Description
According to the WWF, global plastic production could increase from 400 million to 550 million tonnes by 2030, in particular due to growing demand from emerging countries.
Since the end of the Second World War, plastic has become a crucial resource: it is present in every economic sector and on every continent. In 2050, more oil could be used to make plastic than to make cars run and planes fly. However, all hope is not lost: alternatives are slowly emerging thanks to states' efforts and local initiatives.
