The History of Antisemitism - The new Face of Antisemitism – 1945 - Present
Episode 4/4
Description
After the Holocaust, the international community was shocked to discover that 6 million Jews had been exterminated. How is anti-Semitism still possible after Auschwitz? Between awareness and geopolitical upheaval comes a time of high hopes and new concerns.
Yet anti-Semitism has not disappeared, as witness the pogrom in Kielce, Poland, where survivors of the camps were massacred. After the proclamation of the State of Israel in 1948, the majority of the Jewish population had to leave Arab countries. In 1965, following the Second Vatican Council, the Church put an end to two thousand years of anti-Judaism. After a period of calm in the 1960s, anti-Semitism took on new faces.
